Bio
Mark S. Butler II AKA MarQ II was born in a neighborhood in the urban
confusion of Jackson, Florida. There, he begins his incredible journey of
sacrifice and determination. After the divorce of his parents when he was
four, himself along with his mother, and little sister had to make ends
meet by living in public housing projects to have a roof over their heads.
Finding himself in the middle of the financial struggle common with single
parent homes, Mark experienced poverty and crime with his own eyes: a
reality that could not be easily avoided. In 8th grade, through the grace
of God and wealthy donors, Mark attended a college preparatory boarding
school isolated in the rural mountains of Ga. Since then, Mark has
consistently worked to express both the wisdom that he found throughout his
journey from a difficult childhood to a Berea college graduate and use it
in his music.
